What Does It Mean To Spay Or Neuter Your Pet?

spay neuter pt 2

This is the companion article to our Pet Talk Podcast episode about this issue. You can listen to that first podcast episode by clicking here.

Originally envisioned as a single episode, the conversation with Dr. Matthew Wheaton became so robust that we didn't want to skimp out on any information just to make a single episode. So we broke it down into two somewhat longer episodes for our listeners to be able to digest all of this infomation and all of these different sides of the importance of spaying and neutering your pet. Whether you have a cat or a dog, we discuss what it means, and what the process is here, in surgery with the doctors at Alicia Pet Care Center.

If you want to listen before or after you read this, the actual podcast episode is available by Clicking Here.

Let's pick up where we left off from the first half of the conversation with Dr. Wheaton:

SPAYING & NEUTERING YOUR PET, PART 1

Should You Spay Or Neuter Your Pet?

Spay Neuter Episode

This is the companion article to our Pet Talk Podcast episode about this issue. You can listen to that podcast episode by clicking here.

We sat with Dr. Matthew Wheaton, the owner and medical director of Alicia Pet Care Center to talk about spaying and neutering your pet and the importance of that. The origin of this article is the podcast episode that the text was extracted from. As you may have noticed by the episode title, this is going to be two parts and it is going to cover a lot of information. We were going to just do this as a single episode, but once we started getting into the meat and potatoes of it, we realized it was too much information and we didn't want to skimp out on it just to make a shorter episode. So we broke it down into two even somewhat longer episodes for our listeners to digest all of this information and all of these different sides of the importance of spaying and neutering your pet. Whether you have a cat or a dog, we discuss what it means, and what that process is here, in surgery with the doctors.

FEBRUARY IS NATIONAL PET DENTAL HEALTH MONTH

Written by // Tim Wheaton: Office & Media Manager Categories // My Pets Dr Blog, news, cat health, dog health

HOW DO YOU KNOW IT'S TIME TO BRING IN YOUR PET?

Dental Month

(** Two of the scariest dentists you may have seen in movies **)

Last year, around this time, it was me in the dentist chair. I blogged about it… about my fears, about what happened and what I needed to have done after not visiting the dentist in about 2 years. Well, this year, here we are, on the brink of Dental Month in the veterinary world, and it’s our longtime hospital administrator, Josh, who finds himself at the dentist. Josh doesn’t really love the dentist. Let me say that differently: he doesn’t even like the dentist. He tries to avoid going, he doesn’t want to pay for anything that isn’t “absolutely necessary” or “causing pain”. I’m sure all of you who know how stories like this go are clued into what’s coming next. You’re right: this doesn’t always turn out in Josh’s favor. Those times dismissing the need for a dentist visit (even just for a check-up) can so easily lead to those things that most of us agree to fear: root canals, fillings and crowns, etc.
